The White Crane Academy has been teaching Chinese herbal medicine since 2018 and many of our graduates have gone on to incorporate herbal practice into their acupuncture and other treatment strategies.
Located in mid-Devon, I offer online and in person herbal medicine for a myriad of conditions.
If you are able to come to our 6 acre farm, we have a cottage retreat space for patients where they can receive intensive herbal medicine, acupuncture, Tui Na (massage and manipulation), food and exercise advice and lots of TLC!
It is the perfect space for people needing time, beauty, space and this wonderful medicine to recover and recharge the batteries!
Over the years, I have specialised in musculoskeletal problems and have developed a range of herbal products that are useful in the clinic and for patients alike. My top selling product is my Trauma gel which is amazing for pain.
I have also treated many patients with chronic, painful and distressing conditions and it is my joy to share how Chinese medicine could help you.
I have a full dried herbal dispensary on site and delivery is usual 1-3 days using Royal Mail across the UK.

Supporting Women's Health with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs
I really enjoy helping women feel healthy. It seems a strange statement to make but I meet so many women who suffer unnecessarily with painful or irregular cycles that can make them feel so miserable, to the point that they don't like all the things that make them women!
Acupuncture and herbal medicine offer gentle and natural treatment options that help to re-balance a women's cycle so that menarche to menopause becomes a smooth and enjoyable experience.
I am an acupuncturist working in the Verwood, Weymouth and Purbeck area. I gained a BSc (Hons) and a licence to practise acupuncture (Lic Ac) from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading (a three and a half year degree, including six months in clinic). I practise both traditional Chinese and Five Element acupuncture. The latter is a centuries-old system designed to treat the whole person (mind and body) and not just the syndrome.
I came to acupuncture after working as a journalist (primarily for the shipping industry) and as an English teacher. I am interested in health and Eastern philosophy and was looking for a career that combined the two; I was drawn to acupuncture as I have had treatments for over 20 years and found it to be effective.
I have a level 5 qualification in Advanced Clincial and Sports Massage from Jing Advanced Massage Training in Brighton. Furthermore, I completed a 3-year diploma in Chinese herbal medicine at the White Crane Academy, studying under Dr Andrew Flower.
I have practised and taught yoga and meditation for over 20 years. I am trained in the Sivananda style of yoga (Senior Teacher Yoga Alliance 500 hours) and have also trained in Yin Yoga. My partner is a Tibetan refugee, and I have a strong interest in Tibetan culture. I called my practice White Tara after the Tibetan goddess of long life.
Educated in the Philippines, United States, Japan, the UK and China, Tess worked in trade publishing prior to studying Chinese medicine. It was while living in Hong Kong in the late ‘90s that she first learned tai chi, a system of movement, meditation and self-defence from ancient Chinese culture. She also experienced first-hand how Chinese medicine is used alongside Western medicine, each complementing the other. Tess studied acupuncture at the Confucius Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine within the London South Bank University. Her hospital placement at the First Affiliated Hospital of the Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine (Harbin, China) gave her the opportunity to train with highly respected doctors of neurology, gynaecology, dermatology and musculoskeletal conditions.
She teaches tai chi (Yang style short form) at the School of T'ai Chi Chuan London.
Yuliya is a highly qualified specialist who has been studying natural medicine continuously for the past 10 years. She graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture from CICM, UK and followed up with Postgraduate Diplomas in Gynaecology and Paediatrics. She then studied in-depth Leech Therapy with top experts in the world, first in Moscow and then St Petersburg, Russia. Yuliya also completed comprehensive programmes in Hijama, Western Herbal Medicine and Medicinal Mushrooms. Currently, she is completing her 3rd year at WCA.
“Studying herbs thoroughly has been on my mind for years. When I finally got the chance to do it there were 3 options available – WCA, Phoenix or NCA college. After research and talking to TCM practitioners, WCA was a clear winner. I wanted the most rigorous programme and I love that our course is heavily practice based and not diluted by irrelevant academic lectures. We learn exactly what we will use tomorrow. After qualifying I plan to make herbs my priority together with leeches. These two therapies can work beautifully together. Leeches are fantastic at resolving any Blood stasis quickly and reliably, and herbs will nourish blood in return, plus do lots of other things. I cannot wait to give my patients the most effective treatments!"
