Experienced Botanist with a demonstrated history of working in pure and applied research. Skilled in Chinese medicinal plants and materia medica, notably morphological authentication, quality, nomenclature and sustainable use) (20 years at Royal Botanic Gardens Kew); this has included leading extensive field collection expeditions in China.

Previously I spent 10 years in plant toxicology and herbal medicine safety (working jointly for RBG Kew and Guy’s Hospital’s Medical Toxicology Unit) and prior to this I managed the Threatened Plants Unit of IUCN (also at Kew) specialising in the red-listing of endangered species and ensuring their protection under European legislation.
